This psalm is attributed to Moses which makes it a likely candidate for the oldest psalm written. How interesting that this portion is about the span of time that man exists on earth. Even more interesting is that the person who wrote it, exceeded the average. Despite the seeming contradiction, the message is clear…we only have a finite amount of time on this planet and it would only benefit us to learn from that fact.
Here are just a few observations/conclusions to be noted:
1. Every action we do or think about doing has a specific time value.
2. Every action also has a certain positive or negative benefit
3. Since we don’t have enough time to do everything and everything we need to do has different benefits, wisdom requires us to learn to discern the most effective and beneficial actions.
As we are presented options in life ( bad, good, better, best). We need to learn to say no to the bad, yes to the best, and pray for wisdom on the rest
Amen
